How To Set Color for Tabs in Windows Terminal?


Let’s see how you can set the color for each tab in the Windows Terminal app. Click Start and type ‘Windows Terminal‘ in the search box. Select Terminal and click Open.

On the Windows Terminal app, right-click the default tab and from the list of options, select Color.

You will be presented with default colors that you can assign to Windows Terminal tabs. The default colors in the list include:

  • Crimson
  • Steel Blue
  • Medium Sea Green
  • Dark Orange
  • Medium Violet Red
  • Dodger Blue
  • Lime Green
  • Yellow
  • Blue Violet
  • Slate Blue
  • Lime
  • Tan
  • Magenta
  • Cyan

Color the Windows Terminal Tab with Custom Color Code

If you don’t want to use the built-in colors for tabs, you can specify a custom color code. Launch the Windows Terminal App, right-click on a tab, and select Color. To specify your own color code, select Custom.
